One can hang a shower curtain over a bath, and still shower if one installs a tap that has both a tap and a shower head.

If you've got a little more money to spend, one can put in those foldable glass plates over the bath tub. Looks better than a shower curtain with rod, but also takes more cleaning.

I usually take showers since I'm always in a rush. However, as gay as it may sound, I prefer baths. They are so comfortable and you can relax. Sometimes you need it in order to get your stress level down. I'm serious, those bath salts do wonders when you use them in the right combination!

I have a rheem electric water heater. we can get the water semi warm, but not shower or bath hot. temp is up?

Before you really get into checking the unit first go over the basics. Make sure that you have a right sized unit. You can do this by getting the square footage of you house and then going to the rheem website and looking up the model number.

Water heaters like furnaces have to be the right size. Just like you would use a pick up truck instead of a car to tow a boat.I have a rheem electric water heater. we can get the water semi warm, but not shower or bath hot. temp is up?
Sounds like you may have a bad heating element. (I am assuming you have an electric model and not gas) The elements are cheap and pretty easy to change if you want to do it yourself. (Make sure you drain the water before removing an element).

You will need a screw driver and special wrench to change the element, they are available at any home center and cheap too.

Go ahead and change both elements, (there will be an upper and a lower element.

You should also drain the water heater once a year to keep sediment from building up.
everytime i get this problem at my cabin in the mountains, it is always the top element. the bottom element is heating the water but not fast enough, which is why your water is luke warm.
Check for a bad breaker. Check for 220 volts at the elements. Check to see if either element is open. Check heater controls.
If this is a 50 gal. tank, it most certainly has top and bottom elements. It will also have a non-simultaneous upper thermostat, which means that it won't allow both elements to heat at the same time. If you get a little hot water, but not enough for a bath or a shower, then the most common problem is a bottom element having burned out. The top element heats first, until the top half of the tank's water is up to the set temp, then it shuts down the top element and switches to the bottom element so the bottom half can heat up too. If the tank has never had elements replaced, or at least the bottom, that's usually what's wrong. However, even though the elements are not terribly expensive, they can be a real pain to change, especially if the originals were the folded over type. When they heat, the fold opens just slightly and makes the element then, too big to come out through the hole without a lot of work. It can usually be done, but is sometimes a real chore. Also, the socket wrench sold by most home improvement stores has about a 50 % chance of spinning around on the nut on the outside of the element, which makes it pretty much useless. You may as well invest in a decent socket and ratchet or breaker bar to get them out, it will be a lot easier and may even save a knuckle or two. While you have the element out, you can most likely extend the life of the new one by cleaning the lime sediment out of the bottom of the tank, through the element hole.

normally there are one two and three handle faucets

single handle usually has a tub spout with a knob you pull up to divert the water from the spout to the shower head if this is the case with yours replace the tub spout

some single handle faucets have a push knob on the faucet face plate if this is your type you need to remove the handle... remove the face plate ... disassemble the faucet and take the diver er out .. take it to a shop that specializes in faucet parts and match it up with a new one

two handle faucets always have a diverter on the tub spout change the spout

three handle faucets the diverter is the center knob.... remove the handle remove the diverter and take it to the supply house that i mentioned

BE SURE TO TURN OFF THE WATER BEFORE WORKING ON THE VALVES

THE MAIN SHUT OFF VALVE IS THE ONE TO USE ( most tubs are not isolated )

if the steps above are above your head please call a plumber you can do a lot of damage to your tub...tub faucet.. or the pipes behind the tub.....causing very expensive repair bills

I believe my doctor said it was okay for me to bathe in a bath around 4-6 weeks. Believe me, you don't want to rush anything. My c-section incision got infected and that is no fun. I spent two weeks in the hospital when my daughter was 6 weeks old. So you just need to relax and let your body have enough time to heal. How can I convince me female friend with B.O. to take a shower or bath?

I have a friend that has a really strong scent and most times it is not pleasant. (A mix between funk and something sweet to cover it up). I bathe two or more times a day alternating between baths and showers because that鈥檚 how I feel most comfortable. Girls should be clean. I also think it helps me to wake up and or rest better at night. She on the other hand rarely does. When I tell her that I have to get off the phone to take a shower, she does not understand why.

She also only washes her hair once a month and does not believe in washing the sheets on her bed which I think are grosser than not bathing. I have talked to hr about it many times, but she justifies it by telling me that she knows someone who is worse than her. How can I convince her without being ugly? I'm sure someone else has brought this to her attention..there is no way she can be that dumb to not realize she smells bad, or more importanly it's not healthy. We need to shower daily to rid of all the gunk and bacteria that accumulates on our body. I think you can get very sick if you don't because of all the germs that surround us and do stick to your skin. I know it must be hard for you since she's your friend and it's a pretty sensitive situation, but it's on her really. She needs to snap out of it and worry about this herself instead of you doing it for her. I give you credit for trying..I just imagined being in your place and having a friend like that, I honestly wouldn't know how to approach her with it. Maybe you should buy her a shower set .. that can probably motivate her to shower daily.

As far as I know there is no scientific or anthropological evidence that says we as humans even need to bathe. But we prefer to do it because now that we aren't spearing deer and foraging food we have time to look and smell better.

Cleansing does help with acne and skin problems, if not your love life, but I don't know how to turn that into an argument for bathing.

A survey found that people's mood was proportonal to how many showers they took in a day. People said it made them more relaxed and was a break from their hectic busy schedules at the end of the day, or a wake up call in the morning. Being clean is one thing, and being obsessed with being clean is quite another thing. That said, I feel that bathing or showering more than once a day is just a bit too much unless, of course, there is a good reason for it. Other than that, once a day is perfectly fine.

Throughtout the week I've been having what everyone else has called pre-labor (or possibly very strong BH contractions)

They've been strong enough to cause dilation, and strong that my back has ached through the night.

I tried to drink water and lay down, tried to shower... nothing has worked. The contractions aren't real because they will be strong but won't be close, or they'll be close and won't be strong. I was in tears last night because of the pain. Anyone else experienced this?

If they would just stay regular I would be admitted! I'm at 4cm

I experienced this. I had hard contractions that just kept coming no matter what i did. The contractions never became regular until I was 9cm 100% effaced. (at which point I finally arrived at the hospital ready to push) They say you aren't in labor until your contractions are regular but in my experience this has never been true. Everyone is different. Hi there! Do you have a breast pump?? If so I would seriously give it a shot. The nipple stimulation produces oxytocin, the hormone that helps your uterus contract (very similar to pitocin they give you to induce labour). Try this and good luck with your baby! :)

Same thing happened to me. I stayed in the shower for 2 days on my hands and knees trying to breath through the pain. Turns out she was breech. I would go to your OB and see what he/she says about it.

You are dilated enough for water to help. You will just slow it down. Stay out of the shower for a while until they do become regular.

You didn't mention if this is your first baby or not. But what you are experiencing is called prodormal labor. Some drs call it false labor. Phooie!! There is nothing false about this labor. You best thing to do right now is rest. You doing all the work right now so that is good. The only thing you might be able to try to get regular contractions coming on is nipple stimulation. You could also try going to the hospital again. If you are getting uncomfortable then there is no reason why you shouldn't go. You are far enough along for them to possibly break your water. You don't want to get exhausted. I would suggestion using pitocin if you can avoid it. Ask them to break the water if they want to augment the labor. This is the only thing I will do to bring on labor when I am in this prodormal labor patterns.

I can totally relate to how you are feeling. I have done this with my last 3 babies. But I would go for weeks at a time. There weren't braxton hicks and they were doing something but I would never kick into fll blown labor until right in the end. My shortest labor was the one I did this the longest with though.

Why don't you call your dr? Tell him/her your are uncomfortable and truly aren't sure what to do. Don't get in the shower again either. If that isn't helping to stop them then it's only going to stall it out this early. Water therapy is best after you've hit 6 cm and you're in a good pattern (I labor and birth in water so I have done quite a bit of research on this.) But really, give your dr a call. See what they say. Tell him/her you are worried about getting exhausted (I did this with my last baby when i did finally hit consistent contractions. . .my labor was 40 hours just simply because I was exhausted.) Oh, and stay hydrated. That will help as well.

Well, the only thing that will haunt you under your bath mat is mold, soap scum, and other filth that gets caught under it while you shower. Letting it dry will help reduce the bacteria and mold, but rinsing it off before laying it to dry will be more helpful in reducing the the filth and soap scum hiding on it as well.

I sit on the edge of my bath tub with my feet inside the bath tub and I use the other ledge to put my foot on so I can reach hard to reach spots. If I'm in a hurry I put my foot on the sink and shave at the sink.

I find bath slightly easier. And I often do it while I am relaxing with a face pack on.
I usually either shave in the shower or not at all, but something that is really weird is that if you slather hand lotion/cream all over your legs where you are planning to shave, don't rub it in, and shave it off, your legs will be very smooth and also moisturized. I'm not saying do this all the time, but you don't have to be under water while you're doing this (you shouldn't be), so it's quick and easy. It's a very convenient way to shave if you don't want to take a long shower or bath. Also, I heard that you could do the same thing with soap in the shower. Good luck. :)

The shower. It's easier in my opinion. I just rinse my razor in the water stream which I find more effective than swirling it around in the bath water. Plus you can put one foot up on the side of the tub so it's easier to reach down around the ankle area %26amp; such.

In the bath all the little bits of hair you shave off would be floating around in the water getting stuck to you . . . and it just sounds like it'd be so cramped. Like, you wouldn't be able to move around enough to reach places right.

BIG issue of running out of hot water and both shower and bath spigots running at same time?

I rent a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath. My shower started to have issues with the hot water running out after a 15-20 minute shower. The landlord came over with a plumber to ';take a look at it.'; They added some ';caulking'; around the hot and cold water knobs b/c they had replaced the ';on/off'; knobs about a month before. Following that visit, whenever I would take a shower the water would run out of the tub spout AND the shower head at the same time. Not only did I run out of hot water even sooner than before, but the bath tub would fill up with water very quickly b/c so much water was coming out of both the shower head and the bath head. The landlord has told me that he's had 3 plumbers over to look at it and they can't seem to figure out what the problem is. For the last month and a half, since my shower runs out of hot water within 3-5 minutes now, I've had to shower in my roommate鈥檚 bathroom. For awhile, her shower had no issues at all. BUT, just recently, I've noticed the hot water running out in her shower as well (even when no one else is home, no dishes or laundry has been run, etc.).

Can someone PLEASE tell me what the problem is here? Who do I call? My landlord is obviously not being much help, as this has been going on for 3 months now. I鈥檓 simply tired of taking cold showers.

What actions do I need to take? Should I contact a plumber on my own and then notify the landlord of this?

See if you can unscrew the tub spout by hand. You probably can if it's under 40 years old. Then get a spout with a pull up to stop the water into the tub. It will be about $10-$13.

15-20 minutes is normal for most tanks to run out of hot water. If you are going 2-3 gallons a minute, that is a 40 gallon tank. It sounds like he's had plumbers over and he definitely would not pay for it. If you want longer showers, get a shower massager which will use less water.

I can't tell you anymore without seeing what kind of shower it is. If all else fails you can block the tub faucet with something, but you would have to keep the shower on to prevent from blowing out.BIG issue of running out of hot water and both shower and bath spigots running at same time?
TURN UP THE THERMOSTAT ON THE WATER HEATER. Your landlord probably turns it way down. Most of them do.

Listening to all of these people talking about calcium build up and elements burned out is just getting way to deep. Keep it simple. Find the water heater for your apartment and crank that baby up to about 130掳. I bet he has it down to about 100掳 and is acting like he is just baffled with your problem in your face but really hoping you just shut up and go away.

It keeps you from taking long showers and also saves him on heating the water because you use less and it doesn't have to heat it up to a high temperature.

If all else fails just accidentally leave your kitchen sink run on cold water for about a week. When he gets the water bill for the building he will be snooping around every apartment looking for a problem. Then tell him cold showers take you longer to get clean.

If you have a landlord then make him fix it. Chances are the guys he had look at it were not plumbers but friends disguised as plumbers. He probaly paid them with a 12 pack.

I bet if you told him your toilet wouldn't stop running or your faucet would not shut off he would find a plumber to fix that. Landlords are crooks and look at you as a profit rather than a tenant.
Sounds like the valve is not closing all the way to divert the water to your shower head, could be a bad gasket or seal.

As a renter, your kinda in a pickle. If you hire someone on your own to make a repair and your landlord finds out, he could blame all sorts of unrelated problems on you for having another ';unauthorized'; plumber working on his property.

Best bet... be a pest and call him daily about the problem. If that doesn't work, perhaps he isn't the type of landlord you want to rent from anymore!
You need to check your hot water heater. It probably has calcium buildup in it, reducing the amount of water it will heat. Need to know if its electric water heater or gas. E Mail me if you have any questions.
1st off the problem with the water coming from the shower head and the faucet at the same time should not be happening and the diverter valve is bad, and needs replaced. As for the issue with the hot water, sounds like the water heater if electric either needs a new element, If it is gas it may need to be serviced because it is not keeping the water hot and it could be for several different reasons. To tell the difference between gas and electric. There would be a vent running from the top that looks like a big dryer vent hose. either way if it is gas or electric if it is over 8 years old needs replaced. I would see if you can get a plumber to give you an estimate usually at no cost and present the estimate to your landlord. If he doesn't responde within a reasonable amount of time, then have the repair done and deduct it from your rent. and provide a copy of the receipt for his records.
well the first thing i would do is contact my own plumber and tell them to check the heating elements and that the landlord wont do anything else and that you wish for them to check all off the faucets and the hot water heater its self and send the bill to the land lord

I would actually recommend taking out a tampon when you shower and bathe, especially since you are on your period. The vagina is self cleaning mostly, but not having the tampon in is recommended so any blood or material can be cleaned out to prevent infections and bacteria growth. spray it with a bath spray anyway!!! but let your birds learn to eat pellets first! one thing at a time. dusty feathers not the worst thing that can happen to a bird.

my 'tiel is free-flying and i noticed when i did dishes she would land on my shoulder and start fluffing her feathers and preening and making croaking sounds. so now i bathe her after washing dishes. the runnign water sound makes her want to bathe. but then i noticed she only likes slightly warm water! if i use cold she flies away and makes un-happy noises at me.

i think showers are too hard and fast for a cockatiel. get a bath spray bottle. and spray the water over the bird so it falls gently from the air -- do not spray AT the bird. none of them like that.

I used food coloring and bubble bath when bathing my baby brother. He loved the bubbles and different colors every time.
Use a misting bottle. like the one's you use to mist tropical plants. Tiels don't like hard spray. They prefer a gentle mist. He's still young so it may take a few times before he gets use to it. Don't give up!
Maybe your bird isn't the type of bird that likes to be ';showered'; everyday. For, he might like taking his own bathes! What you have to do, is place a shallow bowl in your bird's cage, and fill it up with clean water. Though, you will have to make sure that the water is clean daily!

Other than that, I can't really think of anything else that you can do.

Try just leaving him alone! Make sure he has a dish to bathe in available in his cage. Healthy, normal birds have good instincts and will clean themselves if necessary.

If he really seems unsanitary, try getting a spray bottle with slightly warm (or at least room temp) water, and gently misting the bird a bit... he won't mind this as much as a direct spray of water.

My cockatiel isn't too fond of being sprayed but loves to drink from the shower.

She loves the bath, though. Not every time but I will place a bowl/bath of water near her and some days she jumps straight in, other days she will just drink from it. Some days she is completely drenched, other days she just wets her belly.

very unusual for this to happen...usually cockatiels love the water. Are you sure you arent just misinterpreting his behaviour? if he shakes and spreads his wings, bows down or lays flat, or tries to move out of the way it is normal --just be sure the water isnt too strong--the spray has to be gentle like soft rain. try again.

I agree with Larnsue. also, maybe he might be extreamily sensitive to temperature. make sure it isnt to hot or to cold.
My kids hated the shower until they were 3+ years old. I'd stick to baths, have lots of toys, and make sure the water is a comfortable temperature. Your child is very young; they need a chance to get used to the bath.

Do you need the help of Bible to decide on the wash? There are some religions who has law and orders for all such matters, because they will not use their common sense otherwise.

i am not sure it will impact value but it may put people off unless you have a second bath .As much as people never use baths they still like the option so they may knock you down on price in order to replace bath.

I was a plumber and when installing a bath I always positioned the taps AWAY from the wall.

When lying in the tub you are looking into the room ,and NOT into the wall..
if you have an old style bathroom suit then a walk in shower would increase the value of your home but remember to keep the whole bathroom suit matching in colour . also a good idea would be to tile the whole bathroom and fit an extractor fan for the shower steam . tiling the bathroom would be far easier and cleaner for a shower as the steam may destroy any wall paper etc .plain white is always a favourite neutral colour after all your choice of a colour tile may not be a prospective buyers choice .
Don't know about financial implications but you would alienate some of your potential buyers (people with kids, older generation and those who just want to have a soak sometimes). If it's a space thing, why not put in a compact bath with a shower over it?

Personally, I love a wallow in a bubble bath, but my hubby always has showers, so we'd be at loggerheads if we wanted your house!

rWell most people like having a bathtub in there home and if you do this and go to sell your home when people come in too look at your house the fist thing there going to see is there is no bathtub, that could be a big turn off for them since it will cost them alot of money to install a new tub, and undo what you have done
you may not de-value the house but you would be reducing the amount of interest in the property, its a personal choice and I would prefer a large walk in shower
its primarily a matter of choice but it can deter prospective purchasers if and when you want to sell the property
